Student Services Fee
Generally, all registered students must pay the quarterly Student Services Fee. This fee covers many services dedicated to enhancing the quality of student services and campus activities, and is used to provide and promote educational, social, cultural, and recreational programs and services for all students throughout the year.
This fee also covers services provided by UChicago Student Wellness. Students' spouses, eligible same-sex domestic partners and dependent children age 14 and older who are insured through the University Student Health Insurance Plan (U-SHIP), are assessed the U-SHIP Dependent Fee and are entitled to receive services at UChicago Student Wellness. For a detailed description of the Student Services Fee visit:
Summer Access: Students registered in courses at the University during the summer will automatically be assessed a quarterly Student Services Fee on their student account. Students not registered during Summer Quarter but who remain active in their programs (meaning students who have not graduated, are not on a leave of absence*, and who are expected to continue their studies in the Autumn Quarter) are able to access UChicago Student Wellness without paying this fee. June graduates who are enrolled in U-SHIP through August 31 and who will remain in the Chicago area during the summer, will have the option of using UChicago Student Wellness through August, without paying an additional fee, for the purposes of receiving a referral for specialty care.
Some programs are ineligible. Students who are uncertain should contact their area Dean of Students Office.
Waiving the Student Services Fee
The Student Services Fee will be waived only for those students who live and study over 50 miles from campus and who will not be on campus during the academic year. Students need to petition Campus and Student Life to receive this waiver. There are no other grounds for waiving this mandatory fee.
*Students on a Medical Leave of Absence who are enrolled in U-SHIP remain eligible for UChicago Student Wellness, per University policy.
