Student Services Fee
Generally, all registered students must pay the quarterly Student Services Fee. This fee covers many services dedicated to enhancing the quality of student services and campus activities, and is used to provide and promote educational, social, cultural, and recreational programs and services for all students throughout the year.
Students' spouses, eligible same-sex domestic partners and dependent children age 14 and older who are insured through the University Student Health Insurance Plan (U-SHIP), are assessed the U-SHIP Dependent Fee.
Waiving the Student Services Fee
The Student Services Fee will be waived only for those students who live and study over 50 miles from campus and who will not be on campus during the academic year. Students need to petition Campus and Student Life to receive this waiver each quarter of enrollment. Further information on the waiver process can be found at bursar.uchicago.edu. There are no other grounds for waiving this mandatory fee.
